थानागाजी का इतिहास

गाजी का थाना का संक्षिप्त इतिहास तहसील की वाजिब उल अज से पता चलता है कि यह कस्बा पहले यहां से दो कि.मी. की दूरी पर पूर्व की और पहाड के तलहटी मे बसा हुआ था (प्राचीन नाम अमरावती था।जिसके अवशेष आज भी रूपारेल नदी के पास पहाड़ी की तलहटी में मौजूद हैं।) वास्तव में उक्त जगह पर अब मकानों के चिन्ह भी पाये जाते है भृत्या के तिबारे से पलाई की नदी के रास्ते आने वाले रास्ते पर ये चिन्ह मिलते है ऐसा मालूम होता है कि पहले यह एक छोटा नगर था वह यहां से डेढ़ मील से अधिक यानी 2 कि.मी.की दूरी पर था।

यह कस्बा एक छोटी से पहाड़ी के पष्चिम भाग में उकी तलहटी से धनुषाकार में बसा हुआ है अब यह लगभग गोलाकार स्थिति में आ गया है, भूमि समतल है। इसके उत्तरी भाग में रेगिस्तान शुरु होता है रेगिस्तान के पश्चात दक्षिणी भाग में चिकनोट मिटटी का भाग है।

Thanagazi was a major defensive town of Alwar principality. The massive fort on the hilltop was under Maharaja of Alwar until it was taken over by the government in the late 1960s. Its fringes touch Sariska tiger dens and the fort has significant historical importance. It now falls in the national capital region of Delhi.
